Summary/Abstract It is thus evident that China stands isolated on the issue of the South China Sea even as the international community and the immediate neighbouring countries have rallied support or at least have arrived at a convergence of opinion. Several solutions to the issue have been mooted; such as a declaration of a new code of conduct, or a peace initiative based on joint development and sharing of resources.
