Summary/Abstract Because of the geographically proximity, shared common history and cultural affinity India and Central Asia are considered natural allies. There is interest today on both sides to strengthen economic cooperation, which would also deepen our overall relationship with the Central Asian states. India's policy towards Central Asia has been ad hoc in nature and reactive rather than taking a pro-active stance toward developments.
