This articles examines the activities of Ho Chi Minh, founder of the Communist Party of Vietnam, leader of the August Revolution, and first President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, in upholding the sovereignty of his country and the fight against colonial rule. The author outlines how the ideas of Ho Chi Minh are put into practice in the foreign policy of contemporary Vietnam.
