Summary/Abstract This study focuses on the erratic climate change and its impact on water shortage in Ladakh region in general and in the city of Leh in particular. The Population of Ladakh depends on snow and glaciers melted water for irrigation and drinking for centuries. As such, many of the socio-cultural and religious practices in the region have evolved in tune with its ecology and environment.

Summary/Abstract The National Disaster Management Authority of India, set up under National Disaster Management Act 2005, has developed disaster preparedness and emergency protocols. It would be imperative for the civil administration at the state and district levels in India to develop their disaster management plans using these protocols and guidelines. Thus, after 2010 flash food, the district level disaster preparedness and emergency protocols have been initiated and implemented.

Summary/Abstract Ladakh, the high altitude desert, normally used to receive lots of snow fall in winter and very less rains in summer. Most of the villages in Ladakh depend on the snow and glaciers melted water for their agricultures and drinking. But the victims shared that it slowly was changing and less snow fall in winter and more rains in summer were being experienced.
