Awami league’s politics of vengeance / Mastoor, Maryam   Journal Article

0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract Awami League, the ruling political party of Bangladesh, has vociferously adopted vengeful politics since it has come into power in 2009. Instead of focusing on development and betterment of people, it is seeking revenge from political opponents. Awami League established a domestic tribunal named the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on 25 March 2010. Its purported objective was to detain, prosecute, and punish persons responsible for committing genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and other transgressions under international law. According to experts of international law, this tribunal does not meet the international standards for dispensing justice. They argue that its establishment is aimed at discrediting and maligning the political opponents.
