Palestinian authority: the dangerous transition from failing entity to failing state / Michael, Kobi   Journal Article
Michael, Kobi Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract Despite the vast resources poured by the international community into the construction of Palestinian institutions, the PA has failed to build and maintain the infrastructures required for the establishment of a vital, democratic and functioning state. By most common parameters, the PA is a failed entity. Taking into account this experience and the consequences of the last six years of Arab upheavals, characterized by the increasing phenomenon of failed states, there is a need for a paradigm shift that will increase the likelihood of a functioning Palestinian state after a peace agreement with Israel is signed and reduce the risk of its being a failed state that would pose a complex, dangerous challenge for Israel and the neighbouring Arab states.

Politics and the critical reception of contemporary Israeli literature in France / Allouche-Chemla, Marie Rose   Journal Article
Allouche-Chemla, Marie Rose Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract The detailed analysis of articles on Israeli literature that appeared in a wide range of French publications between 2000 and 2012 allows for exploration of the degree of politicisation in the critical reception in France of contemporary Israeli literature. The diversity of approaches to Israeli literature, and its evolution into a more intimate art form, shows a less politicised critical reception of Israeli literature than is commonly believed.

War by other means: the delegitimisation campaign against Israel / Cohen, Matthew S; Freilich, Chuck D   Journal Article
Cohen, Matthew S Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract Efforts to isolate and delegitimise nations pose a growing danger to state security. The components used in such efforts are, however, not fully understood. This article expands upon existing research by proposing that there are seven areas in which states can face isolation efforts: political, economic, military, sociocultural, media, lawfare, and religious. Moreover, it proposes the idea of ‘destruction-oriented’ isolation, which aims to destroy a state, not merely create change. The ongoing campaign against Israel serves as the case study. Gaining a better understanding of these different tools will allow states to better prepare themselves to withstand these threats.
