U.S. censorship, violence, and moral judgement in a wartime democracy, 1941–1945 / McCallum, John   Journal Article
McCallum, John Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract Mobilizing for total war in the 1940s involved the United States in transnational entanglements while erecting novel barriers of censorship. Drawing on underused military and civilian archives, this paper reevaluates how censorship practices aimed at domestic morale illuminate the reconfiguration of moral sensibilities concerning lethal violence in a democratic state.
