VALINASR is an expert on the problems of the Middle East, a fellow at Tufts University's Fletcher School of Diplomacy, dean of the Paul Henry Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, and a senior fellow in foreign policy at the Brookings Institution. In his book The Dispensable Nation: American Foreign Policy in Retreat,* Nasr tells of his two years of working at the U.S. State Department during the administration of Barack Obama.
