The author analyzes the experience gained from using military-purpose geoinformation systems (GIS) on the example of the Operator-11 GIS in preparing Air Defense (AD) division combat actions. He reveals the causes negatively influencing the efficiency of geoinformation systems and digital terrain information. The author proposes ways to improve military-purpose geoinformation systems and methods of their application in preparing AD division combat actions.
