Bangladeshi migrants in India: an impediment to regional cooperation in south asia / Mukherjee, Pradipta   Journal Article
Mukherjee, Pradipta Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract South Asian regional non-cooperation has attracted more analysis than South Asian regional cooperation due to the historical legacy of partition and political drawing and re-drawing of boundary for dividing the erstwhile Indian sub-continent into Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. Through an analysis of policies taken up by India and Bangladesh on the issue of migration, this paper claims that the issue of illegal migration have been a major bone of contention between India and Bangladesh till date and it will remain the same because there cannot be any agreement between the countries like land boundary or water sharing to stop illegal migration because it deals with attitude and needs of the common people of Bangladesh.
