Summary/Abstract |
The current geostrategic imbroglio in Northeast Asia in general and Korean peninsula in particular is the most enduring bout of the Cold War. In pursuit of peace, seven decades ever since the Korean War of 1950s, no tangible outcome could be achieved. Caught between powerful demagogues (USA, China, Russia, Japan, and South Korea) with their own conflicting agendas, along with North Korea’s own sense of ‘small country’ and its authoritarian ruler’s fear of regime ouster by USA, Pyongyang took refuge of nuclear deterrence.
