Summary/Abstract |
Transition from a globalised liberal economic order to protectionist trade regime has wider ramifications for emerging economies like India. The trade war between US and China reveals symptoms of big strategic competition which might continue for a longer period. Having benefitted from globalised liberal market economy by prudent management of international relations India has to closely watch the emerging scenario, properly calibrate the risks involved, adopt policies in conformity with changes in the international sphere and safeguard its national interest.

Summary/Abstract |
For long a marginal sphere in geopolitics, South Asia is now witnessing the beginnings of a rivalry with newer shades of a strategic calculus altering the geopolitical landscape of the region. If the cold war years were marked by a benign neglect of South Asia by the ‘superpowers,’ the current epoch is increasingly highlighting the centrality of the region not only to Asia, but also, to the world beyond. This article argues that a strategic paradox exists in South Asia with India remaining the central pillar and regional superpower – owing more to geography - while China is fast making inroads into the region, hoping to off-balance India in the process and emerge as the new fulcrum.

Modi’s report card on Indian foreign policy clearly shows that the NDA government has tried its level best to improve its relations with the United States in the age of Trump, but his transactional approach has disappointed New Delhi on many times. Moreover, India deliberately kept distance from its close and time tested friend Russia, and subsequently, Moscow turned towards Pakistan.

Summary/Abstract |
The history of Indo-Pakistan relations is like a great puzzle and difficult to solve. It is really strange to trace that the relationship between the two countries are marked by differences and conflicts on almost every important issue. There is not a single issue where both the countries hold the same opinion. Records of history reveal the fact that India and Pakistan have invariably pursued paths which in essence were contradictory to each other and sometimes even ran counter to the dictates of logic and reality.

The contours of India-Vietnam relations in general and defence collaboration, in particular, have received a major boost since the National Democratic Alliance (NDA-II) government assumed its position at the helm of affairs in May 2014. An important edifice of bilateral defence cooperation is the ‘Make in India’ scheme, introduced in September 2014, with the principal rationale of elevating India’s image as an attractive global investment destination.

Summary/Abstract |
In the forgoing analysis an attempt has been made to interrogate a popular liberal model of negotiating diversity- multicultural accommodation. Drawing on the example of Asia especially Thailand, the paper argues that the merit of liberal multicultural accommodation notwithstanding, mere mimicking of it in the context of ASEAN countries is not enough until and unless it is customized in accordance with the South East Asian context.

The change in Maldives is unprecedented and historic. Yameen had all the power the judiciary, the police, the media, the security forces under him, yet he lost the election. It was being expected that he would rig the election and would make all ends meet to win the election. A police raid was also orchestrated on Solih’s main campaign office the night before the election. The stage almost seemed set in a manner that Yameen would muzzle his way to re-election.
