Summary/Abstract However, in contemporary times, the South Asian region has been gaining tremendous significance in China’s foreign policy primacy, which aims to maintain and promote regional peace, stability and consequently, its peaceful rise. Also, as India began to look towards Eastward, China began to look towards Southward to counter the formers strategic maneuvers. Therefore, in this context, South Asia constitutes a vital region for China’s strategic ambit, and the Maldives is no exceptional in its foreign policy radar.

Summary/Abstract The Indo-Soviet friendship has been evolved into a strategic partnership and cooperation in general and in context of Central Asia in particular. For the Indo-Russia relations, the regional developments present the compatibility of their mutual interests, particularly in resource-rich Central Asia.
