Summary/Abstract |
At the end of the 1910s, Du Yaquan, Chinese thinker, essayer, and popularizer of science, became a proponent of the ideology of cultural conservatism, which called for a mutual blending and harmonization of the cultures of China and the West. His political views, including the concept of the continuity of statehood, his interpretation of the relationship between the old and new in China's development, and his understanding of the social basis of the revolution are examined using primary sources. It is concluded that Du's world view became an expression of the ideas of conservatism, which tried to prevent a break with national traditions in the course of building a new culture.

Summary/Abstract |
This article examines rethinking by North and South Korean scholars in the 1960s of the ethnogenesis of the Korean people. During that period, a combination of political and ideological changes, along with marked progress in studying Korea's distant past led to trends that now play an important role in the understanding of the two countries' scholars about the processes behind the ethnogenesis of the Korean people. In North Korea, this resulted in the chucheization of Korea's ancient history, resulting in an autochthonous theory of Korean ethnogenesis, while scholars in the South took an interdisciplinary approach that enabled them to formulate a theory of migrational Korean ethnogenesis on a multiethnic basis.

Summary/Abstract |
As a result of the "shale revolution," the U.S. could emerge as a liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter. APR countries, major LNG importers - Japan and South Korea included, became a premium market for its commercialization. Due to economic factors of U.S. LNG projects, the U.S. has determined the trend of LNG trade development in the region, and its political leaders intend to use the exports for providing "energy dominance" of the U.S. The aim of this article is to appreciate the prospects of transforming LNG exports into a tool of economic and political influence of the U.S. in the APR.
