December 11, 2016 marked the 15th anniversary of China becoming a member of the World Trade Organization. According to the Chinese, this date is grounds for automatically granting China the status of a country with a market economy. What has changed in relations between China and the countries of the European Union since that date, and what is behind the European countries' hesitation to grant China this status? How are the results of the referendum in Great Britain influencing relations between China and the European Union? What are the prospects for the European Union and the United States concluding a Transatlantic Partnership trade agreement, and how will China's position in Europe be affected as a result? These questions and others are examined in this work.

Universally recognized global processes are rapidly expanding to the farthest corners of the planet, influencing the economic, social, political, cultural, and other spheres of everyday life in the largest and smallest ethnic groups of different countries. These include the Naxi in China, who began to feel their palpable effects on the eve of the new millennium. This work analyzes the position of the Naxi people in the context of globalization, describing the main problems and threats this ethnic group is encountering in the 21st century, and the role of PRC ethnic policy in solving these problems.

The author examines the economic influence of Chinese living abroad (huaqiao) on the regions of the PRC and Pakistan through which the southern branch of the Silk Road Economic Belt (SREB) will pass. The territorial structure of investments, the branch structure of huaqiao companies, the branch structure of the economy of cities and companies on the Chinese section of the SREB southern branch, as well as the branch structure of Chinese enterprises in Pakistan are examined. The author assesses the huaqiao's ability to influence the construction of the SREB southern branch.

This author considers Wang Yanan's contribution to the development of Chinese economic thought during the Republican period. The author analyzes the idea of creating "Chinese economic science," proposed by the scholar in the 1940s, and his assessment of classical political economy and Marxism. The theoretical foundations of Wang's criticism of non-Marxist currents in Chinese economic science in the first half of the 20th century are studied. A connection between Wang's visions and contemporary debates on the prospects for Chinese economic science is revealed.
