Summary/Abstract |
THE 20TH CENTURY went down in history as a century of ideologies and sharp confrontation of states belonging to different systems, the Soviet Union and the United States in the first place. The 21st century has already demonstrated a mounting geopolitical confrontation of great powers that drew international business interests into their whirlpool. It turned out that the main actors of world politics cannot agree on new principles of economic cooperation, free competition and respect for the spheres of interests - they have chosen the road of mounting worldwide tension.

Summary/Abstract |
HISTORY knows any number of fantastic metamorphoses, when adversaries or even enemies became partners and even allies (or vice versa), of which the anti-Hitler coalition of the Soviet Union, United States and Great Britain during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) and their collective contribution to the victory over fascism are the greatest examples. Having approached the critical point in history, the leaders of the coalition members - Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill - demonstrated a lot of wisdom. They pushed aside the enmity and mistrust of the prewar years to close ranks in the face of the threat from the bloc of aggressor states.

Summary/Abstract |
GERMAN philosopher Friedrich Hegel is credited with the well-known idea that history repeats itself twice: first as tragedy, then as farce.
Sometimes a farce does not turn into the harmless theatrical effects of Molière's comedies but can be tragic and bloody, as demonstrated by the policy of the Kiev regime in Ukraine that has revived the criminal ideology, practices, and symbols of Nazism.

Summary/Abstract |
IN HIS classic book On War, the eminent 19th century German military theorist Carl von Clausewitz generalized the experience of the Napoleonic wars: "The art of war ... makes War of all branches of human activity the most like a gambling game."1 It seems that since the time when Clausewitz defined war as "the continuation of policy by other means," the nature of world politics has not changed in real terms: brinkmanship, bluff, risky moves and, alas, cheating. History teaches us that the more ambitious the ruling elite, the more they tend to overstep the bounds of the permissible.
