India’s Nepal Policy: an analysis of impact of ‘modi doctrine’ / Sarwar, Lubina   Journal Article
Sarwar, Lubina Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract India’s Nepal policy has been shaped by security interests, geographical factors, regional political changes, and past legacies. The concept of ‘Special relationship’ that was evolved by India through the mechanism of mutual security and foreign policy arrangements through the instrument of treaties failed in the changing political context of Nepal. Though India helped Nepal in political transformation the perceived interventionist behavior of India in the domestic affairs of Nepal has led to Indian foreign policy breakdown in the post-democratic transition period in Nepal. In this context, the paper will examine India’s policy towards Nepal and the reasons responsible for the breakdown of Indian policy in Nepal.
