American-Chinese trade wars: economics or geopolitics? / Petrovsky, Vladimir   Journal Article
Petrovsky, Vladimir Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract The dispute between the United States and the People's Republic of China over trade and economic issues has a long history. It has now become clear, however, that Donald Trump's protectionist policy is in direct contrast to China's consistent position in defense of free trade, based on the principles of the World Trade Organization (WTO). Washington sees in Beijing its main strategic competitor and has adopted a policy of long-term opposition to China in all spheres, including trade and economics. Having launched a trade war against China, the United States is also doing its best to weaken by noneconomic means their growing competition in the field of high technology.

China Ii the U.S. Pacific Pivot / Voloshina, Anna   Journal Article
VOLOSHINA, Anna Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract In 2011, the U.S. Obama Administration officially put forward a geopolitical initiative that went down in history under the name of "pivot," or rebalance. A major element of that strategy, which was intended to guarantee U.S.A.'s dominant position in the Asia-Pacific Region (APR), became the building of constructive relations with China. This paper attempts to show how the Chinese vector of the pivot occurred and developed. Our analysis has yielded a conclusion about the changes that the pivot has undergone with the replacement of the U.S. administrations and also prompted a question about the efficiency of this strategy in terms of carrying out the objectives set by the United States.

Donald Trump and China: interim results / Trush, Sergei   Journal Article
Sergei TRUSH Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract China and questions about U.S.-PRC relations are now a topic that runs through the Trump administration, in terms of both domestic and foreign policies. In the 2017 U.S. National Security Strategy, Washington specified China as America's "main competitor" for the first time. In China's opinion, it has the right within the confines of a "trade war" to take such measures as protecting its domestic market and national economy, which do not contradict the norms of the World Trade Organization (WTO). China is still not ready to do what the United States did, i.e., capitalize its economic resources and structure, bring branches of the economy into the world division of labor, or create value chains while dominating them as widely and thoroughly as the Americans have. Elements of "trilateralism" are growing in relations between Russia, China, and the United States.

Ostrovsky, Andrei Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract On August 31, 2018, China's Law on Individual Income Tax was drastically amended yet again. Given the rapidly growing incomes of the public and precipitously worsening social differentiation in China's society, these amendments stipulate a higher individual income tax on persons who make noticeably more money than most others. Also, the untaxed minimum has been raised considerably; persons whose income is under 60,000 yuan a year are exempt from income tax payments.

Relations in the Sino-Korean triangle / Asmolov, Konstantin   Journal Article
Asmolov, Konstantin Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract This article discusses the PRC policy in relation to the DPRK and the RK in 2018. Analyzing the Sino-North Korean relations, demonstrating a high level of contacts in both political and economic spheres, the author concludes that in case of further intensification of the confrontation between Beijing and Washington, China will reduce interaction with the RK and US.A. on the issues of denuclearization and weaken the sanctions pressure on the DPRK which, in turn, due to the conditional "rapprochement" with the United States will seek to ensure its freedom of maneuver. As for the relations between the PRC and the RK, according to the author, there is no serious progress in resolving the current problems yet.

Toward a history of the establishment of present-day U.S.A.-China relations / Dubinin, Yuri   Journal Article
Dubinin, Yuri Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract During the 20th century, relations between the United States and China underwent major changes several times. They went from the United States' opposing Japanese aggression in China in the 1930s, based on the U.S.A.'s Open Door policy; to a close military and political alliance in the 1940s, including recognition of China as a great power; and finally, to refusing to recognize the People's Republic of China in the early 1950s and adopting a policy of containment and isolation. The dead end in relations between the two countries was opened by U.S. President Richard Nixon's visit to China in 1972 and the concurrent signing of the Shanghai Communique.

It has also placed limits on Chinese investments in the United States.
