The politico-strategic conflagration in the South China Sea pertaining to contested claims to sovereignty over islands in the Paracel and Spratly archipelagoes has been a major source of trepidation between China and five countries of Southeast Asia. In this scheme of things, India finds itself mired in the midst of the contentious dynamics as fallout of the Sino-Vietnam dispute and interspersing claims to sovereignty in the South China Sea littorals.
