Impact of green credit on high-efficiency utilization of energy in China considering environmental constraints / Song, Malin   Journal Article
Song, Malin Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract Maintaining steady economic growth while considering environmental protection and achieving high-efficiency energy utilization is a challenge that China is' increasingly facing in the new normal. This study employs the super-efficiency data envelopment analysis and spatial econometric model to analyze energy utilization efficiency against the backdrop of environmental constraints. It uses China's inter-provincial panel data from 2007 to 2017 to examine the impact of green finance on high-efficiency utilization of energy. China's energy efficiency utilization shows an upward trend overall, but the utilization level is low. Energy efficiency utilization levels in the east, middle, and west show a declining gradient change. Green credit, credit scale, environmental regulation, technological progress, and industrial structure have a significant role in promoting high-efficiency utilization of energy. China's regional high-efficiency utilization of energy has an apparent spatial effect. Green credit, environmental regulation, technological progress, and industrial structure have a certain influence on the regional high-efficiency utilization of energy, but the influence of the credit scale is not apparent. Therefore, from the perspective of environmental constraints, green credit has a positive impact on high-efficiency utilization of energy in China.

Impact of Military Expenditures on the Globalization Process: a Spatial Econometric Analysis for African Region / Sarwar, Saima; Idrees, Alvina Sabah   Journal Article
Sarwar, Saima Journal Article
0 Rating(s) & 0 Review(s)
Summary/Abstract With modernization, ideological shifts and economic interdependency, the concept of globalization has expanded vastly. Though the world is unipolar, still the international competition remains prevalent that poses serious threats to regional conflicts. The great powers of the world are still competing with each other for influence over other countries. Thus, the role of militarization cannot be ignored in this context. Thus, it would be interesting to examine the impact of military expenditures on the globalization process through the spill-over effects, along with their relationship with economic growth. The study employed panel data consisting of African countries, covering the time period from 2001 to 2014. The econometric estimation is done through the application of spatial econometric techniques, that is, the spatial autoregressive fixed effect model and spatial Durbin fixed effect model. The study has found a positive relationship between economic growth and globalization but a negative relationship was found between military expenditures and economic growth.
