Summary/Abstract |
Should not there be an urgent mobilization of world’s top scientists to deliver climate-friendly technologies? Should not countries deploy large economic recovery funds to accelerate the shift from fossil fuels to non-fossil and cleaner sources of energy? The climate challenge will unleash a crisis of a scale and severity that one may not have an answer. Has the world not learnt from the experience that we are watching it happening when the temperatures have gone up by 1.2 degree Celsius? The Author has high lighted these issues.

Summary/Abstract |
“International politics is a struggle for power and this statement appears to be correct even in the domain of climate change negotiations at the international level. Climate change is a reality and the present world has been struggling to cope with it. Rising temperature, increase in the average sea levels, incidents of famines and incessant rains across the globe amply demonstrate impact of climate change on the daily lives of common people.

Summary/Abstract |
Leaders’ Summit on Climate (virtual platform, April 22 and 23, 2021) organised by the United States of America under the leadership of U.S. president Joe Biden put back the spot-on climate change and climate crisis as a global commons problem. Interestingly, it coincided with the fifth anniversary of the opening of signature of the Paris Agreement on climate change (during 22 April 2016 to 21 April 2017) which had called for limiting/ restricting limit global warming to well below 2, preferably to 1.5 degrees Celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels.

Summary/Abstract |
The Doomsday clock now reads 100 seconds before midnight, but the controversy about the proper course of development continues. The emergence of Green Political Theory, which arose in the 1980s as a result of the awareness that ecological equilibrium had been disrupted, is yet to mark its presence even in the region of its origin.

Summary/Abstract |
Before we go into the discussion of ‘green politics’ let us focus some light on the concept itself. The political term Green is a translation of the German word Grün. The term “Green” was coined by one of the founders of the German Green Party, Petra Kelly, after she visited Australia and saw the actions of the Builders Labourers Federation and their green ban actions. If we come to Green politics, it is knows as a political ideology. This ideology aims to create an ecologically sustainable society which is primarily rooted in environmentalism, social liberalism, and grassroots democracy.

Summary/Abstract |
Climate change has ceased to be a scientific curiosity since long, and is no longer just one of many environmental and regulatory concerns. As the Secretary General of United Nations has said, it is the major, overriding environmental issue of our time, and the single greatest challenge faced by environmental regulators. It is a growing crisis with economic, health and safety, food production, security, and other dimensions. Climate change is expected to hit developing countries the hardest. Its effects; higher temperatures, changes in precipitation patterns, rising sea levels, and more frequent weather-related disasters-pose risks for agriculture, food, and water supplies.

Summary/Abstract |
After four tumultuous years of Donald Trump being at the helm of the American Presidency, the American people chose change in the form of Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. or Joe Biden in 2020. The cracks in the Trump Presidency were apparent from the beginning with a record-breaking 34 percent turnover rate in the first year1 but the rampant spread and unprecedented casualties as a consequence of the mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic exposed the inadequacies of the Trump Presidency.

Summary/Abstract |
India’s rise on global platform over issues related to environment initiated when the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi spoke at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development(UNCED). India has taken a long leap since that day. In 1992, when the UNFCCC was formed, India was in the group of those nations which were vulnerable but did not have a say in the negotiations. In the early 90s phase, the conditions of India were tumultuous to make any significant stride in the economic or political spectrum.
