Summary/Abstract |
The issue of emerging regional manufacturing hub and supply chain in the South-East Asia is closely related with the shift in China’s economy in last few years. The pandemic has also hastened the disruption of existing network of manufacturing and supply of goods and services, which were dominated by China. The intensifying trade war between the US and China, the two largest economies of the world, and China’s growing isolation in the western world and elsewhere have invited the attention of scholars about its possible consequences for the shift in the existing manufacturing and supply chains in the region. The shift may be marked by the emergence of ASEAN as a new centre of manufacturing and supply chain, hitherto dominated by China. But the process of this shift is not easy and strait. It has many ifs and buts which need to be understood.

Summary/Abstract |
Self-reliant India campaign is the vision of ‘New India’ envisaged by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The main objective of the campaign is to make the country and its citizens independent and self-reliant in all senses. Thus, the Indian Prime Minister announced a Rs.20 lakh crore economic package under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan to aid India and to help the country come out of the Corona Virus driven health and economic crisis on May 12, 2020. India could only emerge out of the economic crisis perpetuated by the pandemic by becoming self-reliant i.e., Atmanirbhar. It thus became a mantra (hymn) accorded to the nation by Prime Minister as a catalyst of economic development amidst and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Summary/Abstract |
Bangladesh has a very tumultuous birth in 1971 after the Indo-Pakistan war. Thus, on the eve of independence it was quite pauperised and one of the poorest countries in the world. There were hardly any industries which were developed in Bangladesh, when it was existing as East Pakistan. Bangladesh, when East Pakistan, was left to fend for itself owing to discriminatory policies and approach of the government which was entrenched in the then West Pakistan.

Summary/Abstract |
It is without doubt that one can say India has come a long way ahead on the path of growth and development. Since the days of Liberalization policy of the Indian economy (July, 1991) the growth rate has been increasing. The first decade of the present century India has experienced a consistent growth rate and declared as the second fastest growing economy ( China being the first) of the world. And yet, despite these achievements the scenario of development is still clouded by patches of darkness.

Summary/Abstract |
The hot topic these days is the ‘supply chain’. Presently China is dominating the global supply chain. It is supplying everything everywhere. The world has stopped thinking of producing the raw material or the spare parts or parts required for producing any item, as they know that every part is available from China. Almost all the countries have become depended for their needs on one country, that is China. Now the dragon knows that if it wants it can stop the supply to any country and black mail or squeeze any country it wants.

Summary/Abstract |
The Vietnamese economy has been touted as a major beneficiary of the U.S-China trade war as companies are reportedly relocating factories to Vietnam to rebuild their supply chains. Whether the Southeast Asian country can replace China to become the next “world factory” has become a significant topic of discussion. Vietnam’s GDP grew 6.79 percent in the first quarter of previous year thanks in large part to the growth in its processing and manufacturing sector.

Due to recent events like as the US-China trade war and the COVID-19 epidemic, the world has become more aware of its precarious situation due to over-reliance on a single nation. India has a great opportunity, and the Tiger cub economies are striving for it as well.
