Summary/Abstract Self-reliant India campaign is the vision of ‘New India’ envisaged by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The main objective of the campaign is to make the country and its citizens independent and self-reliant in all senses. Thus, the Indian Prime Minister announced a Rs.20 lakh crore economic package under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan to aid India and to help the country come out of the Corona Virus driven health and economic crisis on May 12, 2020. India could only emerge out of the economic crisis perpetuated by the pandemic by becoming self-reliant i.e., Atmanirbhar. It thus became a mantra (hymn) accorded to the nation by Prime Minister as a catalyst of economic development amidst and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bangladesh, when East Pakistan, was left to fend for itself owing to discriminatory policies and approach of the government which was entrenched in the then West Pakistan.
