Bangladesh has a very tumultuous birth in 1971 after the Indo-Pakistan war. Thus, on the eve of independence it was quite pauperised and one of the poorest countries in the world. There were hardly any industries which were developed in Bangladesh, when it was existing as East Pakistan. Bangladesh, when East Pakistan, was left to fend for itself owing to discriminatory policies and approach of the government which was entrenched in the then West Pakistan.
