Summary/Abstract |
In recent years, the prevalence of words such as “Industry 4.0” or “Society 5.0” has increased globally. These concepts are closely interlinked. Industry 4.0 is, plainly speaking, an abbreviation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (also known as the 4IR), and likewise, Society 5.0 symbolises the fifth phase of changes and revolutions in human society that began in ancient times.

Summary/Abstract |
India and China were targeted by Western nations for their opposition to a
promise to “phase out” coal when negotiating the final agreement in Glasgow. Instead, the two decided to “phase down” coal, causing dismay and alarm about the world’s ability to keep global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Prime Minister Narendra Modi committed, among other things, to achieve net-zeroe missions by 2070, to reduce carbon emissions by one billion tonnes by 2030, and to increase the number of renewable resources in the energy mix to 50%.

Summary/Abstract |
India must prioritize the technology and energy sectors, particularly energy transitions and increasing the use of renewables in supply chain operations. India can establish itself as a facilitator of energy diplomacy, sharing information and capacities between states to develop energy-efficient supply chains. By focusing on supply chain resilience and management, India can take leadership in ensuring that integrated solutions to global disruptions are built into supply chain strategies going forward.
