Summary/Abstract On the other hand, in the wake of COVID pandemic, India practised Covid vaccine diplomacy with the members of this region, but this is not sufficient. SAARC could not live up to the expectations and desirability of its founding members. During the course of the past summits, although some assertions have been marked yet the implementation of those met with astute failures and disappointments. Besides, problem-avoiding approach would not serve any purpose but problem-solving can do wonders for all its members and for the entire region as well. Summary/Abstract The US presence and influence has created conducive environment for India’s penetration in the IPR. The US forging strategic partnership with India is the testimony of this fact as it has started viewing India as a counterweight to China. It appears that the partnership amongst various stakeholders such as India, US, Australia, and Japan in the IPR has the potential to moderate and deter China’s assertive behaviour there to a large extent. The US is employing dual-strategy viz-a-viz China-to practise the policy of hedging and improving trade and economic relations but at the same time maintaining the military preparedness and tactical posturing to check China’s military assertion in its immediate surroundings.
