Overall if one has to assess the diplomatic efforts of India over the last 75 years, it has to said that it has been primarily based on realism to promote and secure its national interests and whatever principles and ideals that have been espoused from time to time also suited our national interests and therefore went a long way in securing India’s interests. It has naturally been conditioned by the prevailing world order at a particular time along with the domestic circumstances and the power capabilities of India.
